The “Reverse Prompt” Trick (For When You Don’t Know What You Need Yet)

One of the hardest parts of communications isn’t the writing. It’s figuring out what to ask in the first place.

Sometimes you’re given information and think:

  • “Okay… what do I do with this?”

  • “What questions should I be asking?”

  • “What am I missing?”

  • “What will my audience be confused about?”

Here’s the AI hack that saves me when I’m staring at something confusing and don’t even know where to start: The Reverse Prompt

I paste the content into AI and simply ask:

  • “Tell me what I need to know that I’m not seeing yet.” or

  • “What questions should a communicator ask about this?” or

  • “What parts of this might confuse my audience?”

AI will point out:

  • ambiguous wording

  • details missing for public understanding

  • potential misinformation triggers

  • points needing clarification

  • what your audience may ask

  • what I should double check

The Reverse Prompt keeps me ahead of problems - not reacting to them.
