Early in my career I believed being good at my job would speak for itself. 

It's not enough.

Now, what speaks to our professionalism is:

• Advocacy

I'm here to tell you that made me feel uncomfortable for the longest time. I preferred to let my work speak for itself. I was good at what I did and everyone should acknowledge that, praise me endlessly, and move on with their day. 

And then, I started to realize that's not how it works if I wanted to grow in my career.

Growth doesn't come from silence. It comes from clarity.
